The authors of the Anthem of Orenburg are classics of Russian pop-song genre, a wonderful poet Yuri Entin and a famous composer David Tukhmanov.

The Orenburg City Council arranged a competition to create an Anthem of the city on August, 2005. The competition commission has reviewed 10 versions of the text with lyrics to the anthem and 8 pieces of music among which there was the version of the anthem produced by the poet Yuri Entin and the composer David Tukhmanov.

In accordance with the regulations on the procedure and terms of the competition the commission reviewed and discussed all the variants. At the next meeting it was decided to complete the competition and to approve a piece of music created by Yuri Entin and David Tukhmanov as an official anthem of Orenburg.

On April 27, 2006 the deputies of the Orenburg City Council confirmed the decision of the commission. The next day there was the presentation of the Anthem performed by the municipal chamber choir under the direction of Olga Serebriyskaya.
